Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Microsoft Defender software starts the good fight against malware on iOS and Android. Expect to see the Defender software for these mobile platforms later on this year.

Microsoft strives to protect businesses from having employees reveal their usernames, passwords, and other account information to potential attackers

Microsoft believes there's a market for its security software on mobile devices. Its goal is to end up allowing malware onto their Android devices by installing apps outside of Google Play.

A big reason for this move to iOS and Android is phishing prevention. Microsoft strives to protect businesses from having employees reveal their usernames, passwords and other account information to potential attackers.

Microsoft hopes to reassure its corporate clients, by being able to secure their phones as well as their PCs. Yet, the situation with average consumers remains uncertain.

It is also intriguing to see what kind of protection Microsoft can offer to iOS devices. It is well-known fact that Apple is not happy with third-party apps that can sometimes limit its functionality.

Until now Microsoft has not yet shared any details regarding the functionality of the apps yet.

All we can say that it is not going to be traditional anti-malware.
