Huawei OS creates ecosystem

In the second quarter of 2020, Huawei overtook Samsung in the smartphone market. Last Thursday the Chinese telecom giant has announced its operating system release.

It is planning to launch it in early 2021 due to the US barred Huawei from using Android. As a consequence, Huawei needs to build an alternative app ecosystem.

Software developers will receive the source code for HarmonyOS at the beginning of December 2020. They will get the chance to study it for further app developing studios for this operating system.

HarmonyOS is being used with smart TVs, entertainment systems in cars, but not in Huawei's smartphones.

During the year the business was pressed by Donald Trump. The accusation of cybersecurity abusing has led to its isolation from the market of computer chips and other telecom-network equipment.

However, there is an idea that the true sanctions are imposed on Huawei due to its subtle leadership for 5G technology. The US does not want to let the Chinese company take their market.

The announcement on HarmonyOS took place at an annual software developers conference in Shenzhen.

Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer products division, believes that overseas developers could find a large market among Chinese users via HarmonyOS.
